Owners say that prolonged boat storage in the water can damage expensive hulls. Fiberglass boats may begin to pucker or blister if not given some dry dock time. The best solution is keeping the boat out of water when not in use by using a boat lift. Hoists lift the craft out of the water, securing it one or two feet above the surface. Some designs have a sunroof that cuts down on sunlight deterioration, further protecting the craft.
To understand a little bit more about boat lifts, we talked to Kyle Kieper at All Power Marine Boat Lifts in Pompano Beach, Fl. Go theck their portifolio of succesful projects in the South Florida area.
All Power Marine Boat Lifts & Docks specializes in boat lifts for small personal watercraft, like jet skis and sport boats, but also lift large yachts up to 200,000 lbs. They make sure their boat lift, dock, and sea wall projects perform as expected, but they must look spectacular too.
1. What is the hardest part of building a boatlift?
Once we know the location and details of exactly what the customer wishes our knowledge and expertise with docks and boatlift installation makes the project pretty straight forward. It’s not difficult when you plan ahead.
2. Do windy days and overall weather affect how and when a boatlift is built?
The weather can affect the installation process. Rain won’t stop us but working during a thunderstorm and lightening is much too dangerous. King Tides are a factor that need to be scheduled around, possibly slowing the project. Windy days are nice because we love a breeze here in South Florida.
3. How long does your team take to project and build a boatlift?
If the required permits have already been secured by the client, ordering and receiving the necessary materials on site could take as long as 3 weeks. This includes designing and constructing the exact boatlift for the individual project. The boatlift itself takes about a day, maybe two nothing more to install. I will be present to lift the boat for the first time.
4. How big is your team?
We are a small business installing and repairing boatliftsfrom 1500 lbs. to 200,000 lbs. We work with some of the top boat lift manufacturers in the world to ensure that our product is of the finest quality and craftsmanship. Our team members are involved and knowledgeable of every aspect of each project being completed. We are always available to answer any questions or concerns. We pride ourselves on our ability to communicate with our clients during every step of the process.
5. Which of your projects were the most challenging?
My most challenging project was building my first concrete dock. My mentor and boss at the time, Matt Klenner, walked me through the process each step of the way. I could not have foreseen the complicated process until I emerged myself in the project.
6. How long has the company been in business?
This company has been in business since 1997, created by the smartest, strongest kiwi of them all, Matthew Klenner. He was capable of anything and saw the same in me. That’s why I have been fortunate enough to carry on the business after his retirement.
