We are proud to start this column with a project from a 25 year old marine construction company. Greg Orick Marine Construction from Naples, FL, kicks off our weekly featured project section with a seawall rebuild that was a major undertaking.
They started by removing 80 feet of seawall, in two days, replaced it with new seawall slabs, 6x5x14 that they fabricate themselves. Now that’s really important. Service providers like Orick Marine can provide not only the service but tailor them to your specific needs and if they need a special size, they can manufacture that themselves.
The new seawall is 90 feet total included the two 5 foot returns on either side. The Seawall Cap will be 12″x18″ which will include 10-14′ epoxy coated steel rie-back rods with pvc covers.. The anchors for the deadman will be 2’x3′ and 3′ deep. A French drain will be installed, 20″ wide an 2′ deep lined with filter, a pressure treated wood, 3×8 wooden border behind the seawall, filled with stones.
After the seawall slabs are installed, they will put filters on every seam with pine STRIPS nailed to the panels to create proper drainage. The fill is yet to be determined as sometimes, they dredge where they can. Orick Marine Construction have done this wall by Land, and not by barge. Old wall was out in two days… new wall was set in two days and were very happy with how quick this job has moved along.
I’m sure the property owners were happy too with Orick Marine Construction efficient services.
